The ranking does not come from an AI.
The map is calculated: identical every time, checkable line by line, and open to challenge by an adviser or a funder.
The map, rule by rule
How the map is calculated.
No language model is involved. The calculation runs in your browser, on the official profiles, and gives the same result every time.
- 01A profile = a set of skillsEach occupation in France Travail’s ROME 4.0 register is described by skills, some of them flagged as core. Labels that are degrees, titles, licences or certifications are set aside: they do not count as skills.
- 02CoverageFor a starting occupation and a target: the share of the target profile already present in the starting one. A core skill counts double.
- 03“Open” means a quarter of the profileWe say an occupation opens to you from 25% coverage. That is a reading convention we chose, not an official threshold: lower, the map lights up everywhere and says nothing. Only occupations with at least five skills are ranked.
- 04The stepping-stone jobWhen the direct leap is too big, we look for an intermediate occupation. It is proposed only if it covers at least 15% from your job and brings you at least five points closer to the target than the direct leap.
What the map does not see
Three limits, written before you find them.
- 01Your skills are those of your profile, not your ownIf you do something unusual for your occupation, the map cannot see it. You can add skills by hand in the inventory (French).
- 02The register lags behindIt is updated periodically. A fast-changing occupation may be described late. The version used is always shown on the file.
- 03High coverage guarantees no hiringWe measure a distance between two profiles, not employability. Experience, network, location, the degree asked for and chance are not in it.
